4-Week Course
October 17 - November 8
What would it look like to be a healthy and responsible steward of your capacity?
How would it feel to be in right relationship with your life's work?
I talk with people everyday who are wrestling with these questions… Their quality of life is out of balance, and they know something could be better, but they aren’t sure how to make it happen.
We aren't given tools to measure our capacity or the vocabulary to talk about it…
In fact, there are a lot of systems around us that are really happy we aren't in touch with the state of our overall health.
Billions of dollars from tech, media, and government organizations operate to take your attention, your money, your social time, your physical vitality, and so much more…
Their goal is to commandeer the mechanisms with which you meet your own needs while suppressing the signals from your body that would otherwise help you meet those needs in a healthy way.
In simple terms: they are taking your capacity.
The mission of Creative Mapping Project is to facilitate a substantial and effective movement around reclaiming our capacity.
What can we actually design?
What can we be sovereign over?
After 8 years of experimentation and refinement of the Creative Mapping Project, I’ve taken everything I’ve developed and distilled the foundational principals into a simple [101 basics course] that helps people actively protect their capacity and maintain agency over their life design.
““These maps are very useful anchors to help get me back on track with where I need to be directing my energies.”
”
The [Course Title] helps you cultivate awareness of the health of 3 critical aspects of your life:
What You Have (Your 8 Forms of Capital)
What You Want (Your Core Values)
What You Do (Your Primary Projects + Activities)
Observing these three categories will help you see what’s working well, identify weaker areas, and gain a holistic perspective on the health of your career ecosystem.
The First Step in a Good Design
Within a few hours, ill help you understand how to use the tools that you can use for the rest of your life so you can move forward knowing how to pinpoint the parts of your life that need to be addresses, cared for, tended. Before you decide what to do about it, lets get really specific about the birdseye view of whats going on.
How healthy is your relationship with your finances? The people in your life? Your relationship with your life’s work? How healthy does your schedule feel and the way you spend your time? We all have a sense of this (what’s healthy and whats not healthy)... but let’s not let that be vague anymore… let’s get clear, let’s get granular. We can make decisions once we know whats going on for us
Do you have a way of checking in regularly with all the elements in your career ecosystem before you make design changes?
The Career Temperature Check is a simple, effective practice to help contextualize your stronger and weaker areas, so that you can make sure you’re building projects that feel fulfilling and become more sustainable for you as time goes on. An hour and a half of deep observation now could make all the difference a month, a year, a decade from now. Your future self thanks you!
On February 10, 2024, The Career Temperature Check is open to the public.
Join a community of creatives striving for balance in their careers at this 1.5 hour workshop from the comfort of your favorite device. You will need access to Zoom and you might appreciate having paper and writing utensils on hand.
