Deep Work Sessions
A Personal Creative Mapping Retreat
This is my favorite way of working with people.
In just 2 days, we cover what usually takes 3 months in my online courses, plus it's personalized to exactly where you are in your life and career. My goal is to help liberate your life's work so that you can more effectively and easefully give your gift to the world, without compromising on your integrity, in a way that gets better year by year.
What's Included
Your Deep Work Package Includes:
A 2-day personal mapping retreat with Chris
(usually 6-8 hours per day, longer if we're feeling inspired!)A guided journey through the Creative Mapping Project's Sustainable Career Design curriculum
(this includes every map, worksheet, and exercise that is applicable to your current situation)6 months of access to the Creative Mapping Circle
(This is our Mighty Network community app which has online recordings from over 100 classes, courses, workshops, and mini sessions I've taught over the past 5 years. You'll also have access to weekly live group sessions if you choose to attend.)2 one-on-one support calls with Chris in the 3 months after our deep work session (these followup calls are 60 minutes each and designed to help you continue to apply
We can also spread this work over 3 months of zoom calls.
You can pace your Deep Work Session in whatever way is most convenient for you. It consists of 8-12 hours of one-on-one call time with me. You can split these hours in any way that is best for your pace (with a minimum increment of 30 minute calls) over the next 1-3 months.
What We'll Do
make lists and maps
have substantial conversations
go on beautiful walks
have time for quiet contemplation
eat really good food
What You'll Come Away With
Every Deep Work session is unique and tailored to the individual I'm working with and I'll prioritize the elements of the curriculum that fit best with your needs. That said, most people come out with the following results:
A working first draft of your Values Constellation Map (core values)
A life inventory based on the 8 Forms of Capital
Training in several project sustainability maps that you can use to assess your projects and redesign them to feel healthier
A decision making system to help you make small and large decisions that honor your life's work and are in integrity with your needs and values.
Support in integrating all of this into a plan that gives you clarity on your next steps and upcoming decisions.
Payment
The Deep Work Session costs $1,800 (US) as a single payment, or split over 6 monthly payments
“I’d recommend this work for anyone who is unwilling to compromise the well-being of their soul for their career goals.””

Why I do what I do
Building a sustainable ecosystem for your creative work is not a quick project.
But anything that's worth doing is worth doing at a healthy pace, and having the right tools and mutual support can make all the difference.
Over the years I've been lucky to work with hundreds of artists, visionaries, and project-makers.
My goal has always been to help them get closer to giving their unique gift to the world, doing the thing that only they can do, without compromising their quality of life or integrity.

Important Acknowledgements and Commitments
Hopefully lots of this goes without saying, but I’m still going to say it:
I want to acknowledge that the concept of ‘career design’ contains inherent privilege. To design anything you need to be able to have some control over the matter.
I acknowledge that in the context of colonization and capitalism, the onus should not be on us as individuals to create basic quality of life for ourselves. Change needs to happen at a massive systemic level.
I acknowledge that we live in a system that does not default to equity, and marginalizes certain groups, and is designed to take away control and autonomy from the folks in these marginalized groups.
I acknowledge that as a white, cis male with U.S. citizenship, I have an unequal amount of privilege, access, and control.
I acknowledge that many elements of the ‘permaculture’ and other ‘regenerative design’ tools and ideas that inspire Creative Mapping originated with indigenous land stewards who developed these ideas and practices for many centuries before colonization.
On a personal level (as Chris) and an organizational level (the Creative Mapping Project), I commit to being active with my time, money, conversations, and efforts to work against oppressive systems, and to try to create resources that help us individually and collectively survive capitalism, control what we can control, add beauty and meaning to the world, and move our communities towards justice, equity, sustainability, and creativity.
